Bruins golf

The Bruins played an impromptu four versus four nine-hole game against Del Norte on Friday, as well as an unscheduled tournament at Stone Ridge Golf Course in Central Point on Monday.

Friday’s match saw Bruins No. 1 seed Bret Darger matched up against Del Norte’s No.1, Cameron Schultz, with Del Norte taking a 3-2 lead victory. Cameron Kime for the Bruins went against Taylor Westbrook for Del Norte in the second spot, with Kime taking a win for the Bruins on the last hole.

Zack Walker played for the Bruins in the third spot against Del Norte’s Ben Slayton, but lost to Slayton at a 4-3 lead. The fourth spot match had Robbie Rowe for the Bruins taking on Brennan Thornton, which ended 4-3 lead in Del Norte’s favor.

Monday’s tournament was small with only four boys teams and six girls teams, the Bruins coming in third overall as a team. Bret Darger took the third low gross while Zack Walker tied for fourth.

According to Bruins coach Gary Early, being able to play a more casual match against a team like Del Norte was a good overall experience for the team while Monday’s tournament was good practice for their upcoming tournament at Eagle Point.

The Bruins head to Eagle Point Golf Course on Thursday to tee off at noon.
