Bruins claim bevy of All Far West League honors


Senior Izaiha Bruce earned first team honors.

After an undefeated regular season and outright capturing the Far West League title, the Brookings-Harbor boys soccer team (11-0-2, 9-0-1) continued their winning ways after earning a number of All-League honors this week.

Most notably, Sam Broberg was named Player of the Year while first-year head coach Jess Beaman took home Coach of the Year honors.

Luke Beaman and Izaiha Bruce earned first-team honors alongside Broberg, while Roman Worthey and Zachary Carlson were named second team.

Jaime Cruz, Austin Fronckowiak, Jair Valdovinos and Michael Kreger all all earned honorable mentions.

Girls Soccer

The Bruins girls soccer team had eight players earn All-Far West League honors this week.

The trio of Abby Farmer, Anna Serna and Emma Leonard were first-team selections, while Stephanie Birks earned second-team recognition.

Sandra Sullivan, Mickey Fulton, Lexi Schofield and Annie Nation received honorable mentions.

Football

Despite a winless season, the Brookings-Harbor football team received nine selections to the All-Far West team.

Brig Scofield was named second team quarterback and earned honorable mention as a linebacker. Offensive lineman Justin Vanginderen was also a second team selection.

Linebacker Logan Holler and defensive backs Logan Holler, Nick Martinez and Adamn Mitchell were second-team selections on the defensive end.

Bailey Stamm received an honorable mention nod as running back, and was joined by Alex Leavitt from the defensive line and special teams punter Manny Zamora.

Girls Volleyball

Mayce McCollum was the sole Bruin to receive All-Far West recognition with an honorable mention nod.
