Shout out for lights
Once again the Coastal Christmas Elves have made our town look beautiful and festive for this holiday season.
I just want to give a special shout out and big thank you to Palm Industries for its much-needed help and ladders. And a special thank you to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for its help and enthusiasm, DownTown Coffee Lounge and Jeannie Mundt for refreshments, and merchants for decorating their business, Curry Coastal Pilot and KURY.
Thank you Coastal Christmas Elves volunteers.
There has been a lot of negative press lately on Sutter Coast Hospital.
I went in recently for two procedures in the surgical department. Every person I had contact with, from admissions to prep, to anesthesiology to the operating room and recovery were very professional, efficient and had a great sense of humor.
I found myself laughing before the procedures and after I awoke. If every department works as well as the surgical department, I can’t think of a better place to take care of my medical needs.

Kites will fly
There have been many questions regarding the Southern Oregon Kite Festival.
Yes, we will be holding the 2018 Kite Festival at the Port of Brookings Harbor kite field and will continue to do so until we are no longer able. We would give the public plenty of notice if that were to change.
We appreciate the outstanding support we have been getting from many local businesses and individuals. We also acknowledge the way the port went out of their way last year to get the bathrooms repaired and water fixed in time for our 25th festival celebration.
We look forward to many more Kite Festival years here in Brookings and our current committee members agree this is the place our festival should be. We are encouraged by the support of some of our local motels that have stepped up to house our fliers in Brookings this year.
Our committee members are excited to come around to talk about sponsorship for the 2018 Kite Festival and will be doing so soon.
Have a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year.
