Eila Rae Jones McNew, 85, of Wilsonville, formerly of Dayton, moved on to heaven to be reunited with many friends and family on Thursday, Nov. 2, 2017. She passed on to the Lord following a stroke, while admitted to Legacy Meridian Park Medical Center in Tualatin. She was surrounded by her daughters Gordean Ash of McMinnville, Debbera Vail of Wilsonville and Julies Grimes of Yuba City, California.
Eila was born April 27, 1932, in Sandpoint, Idaho, to Walt and Vera Jones.
Eila was feisty, kind and generous. She had a heart to encourage and make a way for others. She sponsored Jesus Serratos and Brenda Rivera from Mexico to become citizens of the United States. They “adopted” her as Abuelita with the following “adopted” grandchildren — Fernando, Alma, Jose, Jesus and Marleen.
She is survived by three daughters; sister Sharon Clizer; grandchildren Kele Ash, Christi Krug, Nicole Crane, Timothy Ash, Tony Ash, Jennifer Wood, Laurie Imhoff, Molly Durrett, Logan Giffen, Keenan Giffen and Julissa Poe, and many great-grandchildren.
Eila was preceded in death by her parents, brother Grant “Bud” Jones, and loving husbands Gordon McNew, Jess Saxbury, and Jim Higgins.
Rev. Matthew Jensen will perform the service at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19, at Dayton First Baptist Church, 300 Flower Lane, Dayton, OR 97114. Following the service there will be a Celebration of Life gathering.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made to Yamhill County Providence Hospice or the donor’s favorite charity.
Special thanks to the physicians and Providence Hospice/Critical Care, “Comfort Quilt” program and staff at Meridian Park Hospital.
