Motorists regularly traveling along Lake Earl Drive may have wondered about the new building and parking lot taking shape at the corner of Little Redwood Lane. It’s the future Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

According to Josh Miller, principal at Miller Construction, most of the the single-story building is its auditorium.

Assisting Construction Coordinator Marshall Jones said the structure is expected to be complete and in use by April.

“We just completed our last concrete pour today,” he said Friday.

The new building will offer a bit more room than the previous Kingdom Hall, located on Blackwell Drive.

One thing setting the project apart from most construction projects is that it’s being completed by an all-volunteer workforce. Jones explained the church uses oversight for various levels of construction, such as concrete, plumbing, electrical, and so on. Licensed trades people travel to the site from around the country to oversee volunteers and train them how to use the necessary tools and equipment.

“That’s how we build the around the country, and even around the globe,” Jones said.

The new 3,000 square foot building will be surrounded by a lot with 55 parking spots and five ADA spots.

As a condition, of the building permit, Lake Earl Drive will need to be widened to include a deceleration lane, he said.

“We’ll need to wait for good weather to do that,” said Jones.
