The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), Cape Sebastian Chapter, is hosting a Vietnam War 50th anniversary commemorative luncheon at 11:30 a.m., March 17, in the Curry Showcase Building at the Event Center on the Beach in Gold Beach.
The event is being held “to thank and honor veterans of the Vietnam War period for their service and sacrifice,” said DAR spokeswoman Sandra Welsh. “Also, to thank and honor the families of the veterans.”
United States veterans who served in active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces at any time from Nov. 1, 1955, to May 15, 1975, are invited to receive a commemorative Vietnam War Veteran pin provided by the U.S. Department of Defense and a certificate of recognition “for valor, service and sacrifice,” provided by the DAR.
Welsh encourages everyone to join the luncheon. Food and door prizes for veterans will be featured as well.
Veterans are asked to RSVP by Friday by calling 541-247-2371 or e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org .
