The Brookings-Harbor High School Bear Delights dance team took second place at the Rogue Valley Festival of Dance in Grants Pass on Saturday.

After an excellent first round performance, the Bear Delights led the competition in points.

But in the second round, the dance team from Gresham High School came out on fire and edged out the Bear Delights by a mere 1.2 points for the first place trophy.

"I was shocked to hear that we were in first place after the first round," Coach Tiffany Eldridge said. "Mainly because we only have two and a half minutes of what will be a four and a half minute routine by state."

Senior and captain Hannah Fallert is responsible for choreographing the majority of the team's routine so far.

"We were happy to see that the judges responded so well to our choreography," Eldridge said.

The Bear Delights will continue to add to their routine in preparation for the state championships, which will take place in Portland on March 14 and 15.

Their next competition will be on Saturday, Feb. 23 at Sprague High School in Salem.
