Practical pistol course

The Western Rifle Shooters Association will be hosting a practical pistol course Friday and Saturday, March 15 and 16 north of Thomas Creek Bridge.

Those interested in attending can meet at 7 a.m. at Oceanside Diner, 16403 Lower Harbor Road.

The Western Rifle Shooters Association is composed of people from around the country who share a common desire to train people in the safe use of firearms and to instill the love of the shooting sports.

Track fundraiser

The Brookings-Harbor High School track team is currently selling tickets for their big fundraiser this year, "Where's the Moo-Moo Gonna Poo-Poo?"

Tickets are $50 each with a grand prize of $1,000 to the winner.

The fundraiser places a cow on Elmer Bankus Field, – which is sectioned off in squares with randomly selected numbers in each space – and wherever the cow poops, the holder of that number wins the grand prize.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the track team for new warm-ups and improvements to the track facility.

Tickets are limited, so get them before they run out.

To purchase tickets, call Coach Paul Angove at the high school at (541) 469-2108 ext. 250.

Redwood Wild River Run

The Redwood Wild River Run is set for 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 29 on South Fork Road on Hwy. 199, 10 miles northeast of Crescent City.

There will be a 15K race as well as a 5K run and fun run/walk.

Early registration entry fee is $11 and must be postmarked by March 15.

Registration after March 15 is $15.

The course is an out and back course on gently rolling, hard-packed gravel through scenic old growth redwood forest.

There will also be aid stations at three and six miles, with restrooms at the start.
