FOREST GROVE – Christine Stallard as its Communicator of the Year for 2008 by Ruralite Services.

Stallard is the member and public affairs director for Coos-Curry Electric Cooperative based in Port Orford. She oversees the co-op's member and employee communications, handles media relations, and provides editorial content for co-op publications and Web site, including Coos-Curry's edition of Ruralite magazine.

Stallard's devotion to getting things right and making sure it looks good, is one of the reasons she was nominated for the annual award, said Mike Teegarden, Ruralite assistant editor. Every month, she works to provide a balance of community and utility information for the Coos-Curry pages of Ruralite magazine. She does so in a timely and efficient manner, even while traveling on professional or personal business.

"Christine is such a pro," Teegarden said. "She has never left me wondering when her materials were coming. I know I can depend on her each and every month. Because of her utility industry experience, she brings an insightful perspective to every project in which she participates."

Ruralite Services is a nonprofit cooperative corporation formed more than 50 years ago. It serves the communications needs of 54 consumer-owned electric utilities in Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon and Washington.
