The Curry County Cruisers car club shows its classic and antique cars every Wednesday at Les Schwab.

Classic car buffs in the Brookings area have been gathering every Wednesday night at  Les Schwab Tire Center to show their classic cars and trucks to others and meet other area residents who enjoy collecting and restoring cars.

Les Schwab has granted the Curry County Cruisers car club the use of its parking lot from 7 to 9 p.m. through September for this informal gathering.

Jim Haggerty, president of the Curry County Cruisers, says that there are new people coming by almost every Wednesday night.

“We are now seeing classic car enthusiasts from Port Orford to Crescent City coming by on Wednesday nights,” Haggerty said. “It is a very laid-back event — no trophies, no entertainment, just meeting people who share the same interests in old cars.”

The event is open to all antique, classic and special-interest cars, trucks and motorcycles. The club asks for a donation of $2 or a donation of two non perishable food items that will be donated to the Brookings food bank.
