Cedar Bend hosts Tin Cup tournament today

Cedar Bend golf course in Gold Beach is hosting an 18-hole, two person team “Tin Cup” tournament beginning at 9:30 a.m. today. 

Over $1,200 in prizes will be awarded with the cost of entry being $45 for members and $55 for non-members. Entry fee includes lunch and a golf cart rental.

BHHS to hold softball pitching camp Monday

Cal State East Bay pitcher Emily Perlich will be the instructor at the Brookings-Harbor High School Pitching Camp on Monday at BHHS.

Cost of the camp is $25 per pitcher with the Little League session running from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. The high school session runs from 2-6 p.m.

Athletes are asked to arrive 20 minutes early for registra- tion and warm-ups. High school aged pitchers need to provide their own catcher (catchers attend for free).

Port Orford Jubilee 5K Run/Walk

Port Orford will the be the site for the Jubilee 5K Run/Walk at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 5 starting at the old jailhouse on Jefferson Street and ending at Battle Rock. 

The entry fee is $5 for adults (children 18 and younger are free). The event is being held to raise monies for the 2015 fireworks show.

BHHS Wrestling Camp June 23-27

BHHS head wrestling room coach Brett Curtis will be instructing a youth wrestling camp from 7 to 10 a.m. June 23-27 at Azalea Middle School. Admission is free of charge. Call 541-661-3301 for further information.

Relay for Life on July 12-13

The Curry County Relay for Life, benefiting the American Cancer Society, will be held at the BHHS track beginning at 4 p.m. Saturday, July 12 and ending at 8 a.m. Sunday, July 13.

Admission is free and, in addition to the relay, activities include a 5K Fun Run, a kids carnival and costume contest, and a silent auction.

A luminaria ceremony will be held on Saturday evening at 10 p.m. to honor those who have battled cancer.
