Shannon Raye Quinton

Feb. 1, 1985-May 8, 2014

Shannon Raye Quinton, 29, passed away May 8, 2014, from natural causes, at her home in Brookings.

She was born Feb. 1, 1985, in Gold Beach, to Allen Quinton and Catherine Blunt. She was raised in Brookings and attended Brookings-Harbor High School, where she excelled in soccer and basketball. Growing up, she spent a lot of time enjoying the outdoors, hunting and fishing with her dad Allen Quinton.

Following her graduation, Shannon moved to Eugene where she worked for Marie Callendar’s Restaurant. In 2011 she returned to Brookings, where she worked with her mom at her cafe.

Shannon loved water sports, including wakeboarding and skiing, and snowboarding in the winter. She also liked horseback riding and was an avid Oregon Ducks fan. She also had a creative side, which included writing poetry and, recently, arts and crafts. Her family remembers her as a fun-loving and compassionate person; she will be greatly missed.

Shannon leaves behind her mom Cathy Blunt; dad Allen Quinton, and partner Sue Babb; all of Brookings; brother Tim Quinton of Palmer, Alaska; aunts and uncles Ron and Phyl Quinton of Crescent City, Steve and Carolyn Quinton of Phoenix, Arizona; Cousins Travis and Tara Quinton of Phoenix and their children Jacob, Ryan, and Stephanie Quinton; cousins Mark and Justin Quinton of Crescent City. There are also numerous other relatives, too many to mention.

Shannon was preceded in death by grandparents Flossie Downing and William Quinton and beloved cousin Patrick Ondak.

Thanks go to Coastal Home Health & Hospice for the compassionate care they provided in Shannon’s final days.

Honoring her memory, the family is requesting contributions be made to Coastal Home Health & Hospice. P.O. Box 493, Gold Beach, OR 97444.

A celebration of Shannon’s life was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 17, 2014, at Redwood Memorial Chapel as a testament of how much she was and is loved. It was standing room only.
