Several Brookings-Harbor high school boys and girls basketball players received all-league honors last week.

Bruin senior forward Ronnie Manley and Lady Bruin sophomore guard Drew Farmer were selected to the Far West All-League first team as voted on by league coaches.

For Manley, it’s his second straight first-team selection and the third year he has picked up league honors, garnering all-league honorable mention and all-defensive team for the 2011-2012 season.

“This year was special just because of the injuries I’ve gone through. It’s cool that I was able to overcome them and get recognized,” said Manley, referencing nagging ankle injuries that have hampered him this season.

Farmer, a standout who led the Lady Bruins in points, assists, steals and minutes played, was named to the all-league first-team and all-defensive team for the first time in her short high school career.

“I was kind of amazed. I didn’t think I’d get first team,” declared a humble Farmer. “I thought there were other players on our team that should have made first team and were more qualified.”
