Free Christmas Movies

Two free Christmas movies will be shown Monday, Dec. 23, at the Redwood Theater, 621 Chetco Ave., Brookings, starting with “Rudolph” at 1 p.m. and “The Polar Express” at 2:15 p.m. Santa might visit between the movies.

Nature’s Coastal Holiday

Nature’s Coastal Holiday lights up the gardens of Azalea Park in Brookings from 5 to 9 p.m. from Sunday, Dec. 1, through Tuesday, Dec. 24. Santa will be on hand from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday through Tuesday, Dec. 21-24.’

Stout Mountain Railroad

The Stout Mountain Railroad runs its Ornament Express model train display from 1 to 7 p.m. daily through Dec. 24, in the Brookings-Harbor Shopping Center.

Hughes House Open House

The Hughes House in Cape Blanco State Park, near Sixes, has been decorated for the holidays, with special open house hours of 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 21-22, and again on Thursday, Dec. 26.

Christmas services

There are many Christian religious services planned along the Wild Rivers Coast for Tuesday and Wednesday, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.  Watch for special listings in both the Curry Coastal Pilot and the Del Norte Triplicate.

Free Christmas Feast

The Curry Fair Friends will serve up a free Christmas Feast from noon to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 25, at the Event Center on the Beach, Highway 101, Gold Beach.

Whale Watching Week

The annual Whale Watching Week along the Oregon Coast is Dec. 26-31, when volunteers will be at coastal headlands from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to help visitors spot the migrating California gray whales. Locations include Cape Ferrelo north of Brookings, Harris Beach State Park in Brookings, Ninth Street Beach in Crescent City, and Battle Rock Wayside in Port Orford.

New Year’s Eve Dance Party

The Ferguson Brothers will be the featured band at a New Year’s Eve Dance Party from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, at the Event Center on the Beach, Highway 101, Gold Beach.

First Day Hike

A guided First Day Hike event will be offered at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 1, at Crissey Field State Recreation Site, located on Highway 101 just north of the Oregon-California Border.

Pistol River Concert

The Pistol River Concert Association presents The Quiet Americans with bassist Ronnie Ontiveros in concert at 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, at the Pistol River Friendship Hall, 24194 Carpenterville Road, Pistol River.

Friends of Music concert

The Friends of Music present their Gala Young Artists Concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan 12., at the Brookings Seventh-day Adventist Church, 102 Park Ave.
