Police seek info on gunfire incident

The Brookings Police Department is asking for help in finding the person responsible for firing a gun and striking two houses and a vehicle along Easy Street early Tuesday morning.

According to Chief Chris Wallace, between 2 and 4 a.m. Nov. 12, an unknown person fired multiple rounds from a .45-caliber handgun from First to Fifth streets.

Residents found the bullet holes after talking with officers about the incident, said Lt. Denny Dotson.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call the police department at 541-469-3118, or if they wish to remain anonymous, to call Curry County Crime Stoppers at 541-412-0989 or toll-free at 888-974-0000.

Citizens who provide information that leads to the arrest and prosecution of the perpetrator will be entitled to a cash reward.

Crime Stoppers is a private, nonprofit group that awards $1,000 cash to citizens who provide information leading to the arrest and prosecution of criminals. Citizens can collect the reward without revealing their identity.
