Edward Warren “Ed” Gnadig fell asleep in death on Oct. 25, 2013, at his home in Crescent City, under the loving care of his son Ed Gnadig and daughter Barbara Bashera, following a brief illness. 

Ed was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Marines.

He was born in San Francisco, Nov. 2, 1920.

In 1942, Ed joined the Operating Engineers Union. His work took him all over California and Nevada. Ed made his home in Nevada until he retired in 1987.

 Soon after he retired in 1987, he and his wife moved to Harbor, where he was able to enjoy his favorite hobby — fishing.

Ed and his late wife, Anita, dedicated their lives in service to their God Jehovah in 1991. Ed spent much of his free time in the ministry helping people understand the Bible.

Surviving are his children Barbara Bashera of Crescent City; stepdaughter Sandra Bongiovanni of San Jose, Calif.; and son Edward Charles Gnadig and his wife Michele Gnadig of Harbor. Also surviving are 14  grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Ed was preceded in death by his wife Anita Gnadig, the love of his life; his daughters Jo-Ann Gnadig and Diane Hyatt.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday Nov. 16, 2013, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1230 Blackwell Lane, in Crescent City.
