What the Lady Bruins started in their game, the boys squad kept right on doing as they beat the visiting Marshfield Pirates 10-2.

Junior David Daniels joined the ranks of hat trick holders with three goals of his own with the first goal at four minutes, the second at 47 minutes and the final goal at 59 minutes.

Senior Wyatt Aldrich also had a hat trick with goals in the 11th, 29th and 73rd minutes.

The four hat tricks between the two games sets a record for Brookings-Harbor that could possibly never be broken.

Fernando Villa, Nels Johnson, David Joyce and Tim Sullivan also added a goal each.

“We were expecting a little more competition with them coming from a bigger school,” Daniels said. “We thought it would be a little harder game.”

Head Coach Gabe Anaya was happy with the outcome of the game.

“I think we worked a lot on our passing today,” he said. “Our passing was very good and we were relaxed by the end of the game.”

The Bruins are undefeated on the season and will host Coquille at 3 p.m. on Thursday.

The Lady Bruins started scoring in the first five minutes of their 12-0 victory over the Lady Pirates of Marshfield and two hat tricks and a number of individual goals later the Bruins ended the game just as they started it — scoring goals.

Senior Jade Heredia and freshman Siena Worthey both scored three goals in Tuesday’s win for the elusive hat tricks.

“It feels pretty good to get a hat trick,” Worthey said. “Coach didn’t tell us not to score, he just told us to work on the things we’ve been working on in practice.”

Heredia scored the first goal of the game and was joined by Molly Joyce, Iva Hart (the second of her career as a Bruin defender), Karlie Gonzalez and Hanna Leonard as well as Worthey.

Goalie Mimi Fernandez got in on the scoring action with an assist to Heredia. Fernandez blocked a shot on goal and booted it toward mid-field where it took a huge Bruins’ bounce and Heredia corralled it and took it the rest of the way for a score.

The Lady Bruins host Coquille at 5 p.m. on Thursday.
