Ryan Olds Aug. 4, 1995 – Sept. 7, 2013 

Ryan Olds, 18, of Brookings, passed away Sept. 7, 2013, in Brookings as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.

 Ryan was born Aug. 4, 1995, in Antioch, Calif., to Michael Olds and Deanna Alves. 

He grew up and attended school there, until relocating to Brookings five years ago. Ryan graduated from Brookings-Harbor High School where he played catcher on the baseball team. He loved to go camping and fishing with his cousins — he also loved spending time with his friends. 

Ryan had planned to enter the National Guard in October and wanted to be a police officer. 

He was smart and funny, was a good friend and will be missed.

Survivors include his mother Deanna Alves of Brookings; father and stepmother Michael Olds and Karen Idsoe of Antioch; sister Erica Leonardo of Antioch; grandparents Robert and Sandy Olds of Brentwood, Calif., Sheila Blair of Antioch, Calif., Phillip Blair of Pittsburg, Calif., and Anthony Alves of Modesto, Calif.

Viewing will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16, at Redwood Memorial Chapel, 1020 Fifield St. in Brookings. 

A celebration of Ryan’s life will be at 4 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16, at Living Waters Foursquare Church, 1136 Fifield St. in Brookings. 

A reception will follow the service at the church. 

Private interment will be at W.J. Ward Memorial Cemetery in Brookings.
