Friday, Aug. 23 

Suspicious conditions, 12:56 a.m. A citizen observed someone behind a business in the 600 block of Railroad Street who appeared to be pacing back and forth, which seemed suspicious. The caller requested an officer do a drive-through of the area. An officer contacted the janitor for the business who was working later than usual. 

Recovery of stolen vehicle, 3:14 a.m.: An officer stopped a car that was speeding through town at Chetco and Pacific avenues. The car was reported stolen out of Fortuna, Calif. The driver was arrested for unauthorized use of motor Vehicle and driving with a blood alcohol content of .16. 

Fire, 7:35 a.m.: Brookings Fire responded to a smoking pile of bark and wood chips near Bud Cross Park. Public Works was advised to spread the chips around to prevent a fire.

Water problem, 7:59 a.m.: 1700 block of Arch Lane. 

Found property, 9:22 a.m.: A knife that was found at Easy Street and Fern Avenue was put into safekeeping. 

Found property, 2:57 p.m.: A wallet found in the 1100 block of Chetco Avenue was returned to its owner. 

Theft, 4:55 p.m.: The theft of a scooter was reported in the 500 block of Fir Street. 

Bike/skateboard complaint, 6:35 p.m.: A juvenile was warned for having no brakes on his bike and riding in the skate bowl at Bud Cross Park. 

Animal complaint 752 p.m.: Wandering dogs that had sneaked out of their house earlier were reunited with their owner on Memory Lane. 

Saturday, Aug. 24 

Dispute/fight, 1:28 a.m.: 600 block of Chetco Avenue. 

Animal complaint, 3:41 a.m.: Police received a report of an ongoing dog barking problem in the 400 block of Fir Street. An officer made phone contact with the resident who took the dogs inside. 

Disabled vehicle, 6:50 a.m.: Easy and Ransom streets. 

Suspicious conditions, 2:27 p.m.: Highway 101 at Harris Beach. 

Injured subject, 2:41 p.m.: 1100 block of Ransom Street. 

Fire, 6:38 p.m.: Harbor Fire responded to 16000 block of Driftwood Lane. 

Missing person, 7:08 p.m.: 98000 block of Gerlach Lane. 

Unauthorized use of a vehicle, 10:33 p.m.: 500 block of Fern Street. 

Theft, 11:46 p.m.: 200 block of Matot Street. 

Sunday, Aug. 25

Dispute/fight, 1:49 a.m.: 16000 block of Kings Way. 

Fire, Harbor Fire responded to 16000 block of Carson Lane. 

Criminal mischief, 8:13 a.m.: 900 block of Chetco Avenue. 

Arson, 9:02 a.m.: 16000 block of Boat Basin Road. 

Fire, 11:12 a.m.: Harbor Fire responded to 15900 block of Bayview Drive. 

Child neglect, 3:13 p.m.: 15800 block of Highway 101. 

Rescue operation, 4:55 p.m.: Cliff below 1200 block of Iris Street. 

Dispute/fight, 4:37 p.m.: 16000 block of Kings Way. 

Found property, 4:50 p.m.: Chetco Point. 

Missing person, 5:36 p.m.: Loeb State Park.

Harassment, 9:34 p.m.: 98100 block of Daina Lane. 

Suspicious conditions, 10:50 p.m.: 16100 block of Highway 101.

Monday, Aug. 26 

Dispute/fight, 2:05 a.m.: 200 block of Musser Street. 

Suspicious conditions, 7:43 a.m.: 17600 block of Brown Deer Lane. 

Hazard, 8:08 a.m.: 1000 block of Chetco Avenue. 

Theft, 8:21 a.m.: 700 block of Third Street. 

Hazard, 9:46 a.m.: Cape Ferrelo Road. 

Child abuse, 11:45 a.m.: Garvin Court. 

Harassment, 2:18 p.m.: 15800 block of Highway 101. 

Fire, Brookings Police responded to 200 block of Memory Lane. 

Dispute/fight, 8:55 p.m.: Highway 101 south of Beach Avenue.

Brookings police made many  traffic stops, including those warning drivers of excessive speed, defective brakes and expired tags.
