Summer events a boon to area

The summer festival season continues!

Up next: the Southern Oregon Kite Festival and the Curry County Fair. In August, it’s the Festival of Art at Stout Park, the pirate festival, Slam’n Salmon Fish Derby and ...

Well, you get the picture.

If the impressive attendance at earlier events is any indicator, this summer is going to go down as one of the best in many years.

And that’s good news for the local economy and community morale.

Each festival attracts hundreds and often thousands of visitors to our fair coast, who, in turn, spend money at local shops, motels and restaurants. Additionally, local artisans earn much-needed income selling their products, while local charities gain public awareness and, hopefully, donations.

We tip our hat to the dozens of volunteers, organizations and businesses that make it all happen. And we salute the local sponsors, which, in most cases, help to keep admission prices low or free.
