Making festival a huge success

The rainy weekend could not dampen the hard work and enthusiasm of the many volunteers, organizations and businesses that, once again, made the community’s Azalea Festival such a huge success!

The festival is an annual reminder to residents and visitors of the many positive things this community has to offer.

Organizations and volunteers were out in force, selling goods and raising awareness of important civic efforts and activities. Local artists displayed their work and musicians performed at the Party at the Port. Even our best and brightest slugs shined during the annual Slug Races Sunday at the Port of Brookings Harbor.

Local dignitaries, the Azalea queen and her court, and our veterans were honored at various ceremonies.

From the selling of the first volume at the annual library book sale Thursday to the final salute given at the Memorial Day Ceremony Monday, it takes the work of hundreds of people to take care of thousands of details – and visitors – for this community-wide event.

We salute all of you for the effort. Let’s do it again next year!
