Tuesday, May 14

DUII, 11 p.m.: When a trooper pulled over a car for a traffic violation on Highway 101 near McVay Lane, he noticed the driver’s breath smelled of alcohol. The driver, from Washougal, Wash., also had bloodshot eyes and admitted to drinking alcohol. After failing a field sobriety test, he was taken to the Brookings Police Station where he blew .08 blood alcohol. He was released to his wife, his passenger, and charged with driving under the influence of intoxicants and recklessly endangering another.

Wednesday, May 15

Warrant, 8:44 a.m.: A trooper stopped a car for speeding on Highway 101 near Crook Point. Upon investigation, the trooper found one of the passengers, a 55-year-old man from Brookings, was wanted on a misdemeanor warrant. The passenger was transported to Curry County Jail. 

Vehicle impound, 3:18 p.m.: A vehicle was pulled over after the driver was clocked at 98 mph in a 55 zone on Highway 101 south of the Pistol River bridge. The driver, 37, of Wenatchee, Wash., was found to have a suspended license and no insurance. The car was towed to Gold Beach.

Thursday, May 16

Non-injury traffic crash, 4:02 p.m.: A commercial vehicle had its trailer come unhitched on Highway 101 near Hooskanaden slide. The trailer came to a stop in the middle of the highway. A tow truck came from Coos Bay to unload the trailer and tow it. The 58-year-old driver from Eugene was cited.

Sunday, May 19

Driving while suspended, 10:42 a.m.: A 26-year-old Brookings motorist was stopped on Wenbourne Lane and found to be driving while suspended, had not changed her address on DMV records, failed to renew vehicle registration and failed to return a suspended driver license.

Driver while suspended, 2:44 p.m.: A 19-year-old Brookings woman was stopped for speeding on North Bank Chetco River Road. She was found to be driving with a suspended driver license, resulting in her car being impounded.
