CRESCENT CITY — The Side Street Strutters Jazz Band, featuring Meloney Collins, performs at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 2, at Crescent Elk Auditorium, 994 G St.

This is the final performance in the Del Norte-Curry Community Concert Association’s 2012-13 season. Admissions is $15 for adults and free for children and students. Adults may be admitted free with purchase of 2013-14 season membership — $40 for four concerts.

In 1983 a group of musicians attending Arizona State University formed a musical ensemble whose artistic focus centered on the musical traditions of early New Orleans jazz.

Now, more than 25 years later, the same core members are still together and have expanded their musical palette to include more than a half century of jazz styles from Dixieland and blues, to big band swing and popular standards.

The Strutters have presented formal concerts, symphony pops performances and student outreach programs in all 50 states, seven European countries, Canada and Mexico. The Strutters have been entertaining guests at Disneyland for 22 years.

At the Crescent City concert, The Side Street Strutters and Meloney Collins will perform such jazz classics as “A Kiss to Build a Dream On,” “April in Paris,” “Don’t Get Around Much Anymore,” “Stardust,” and “Take the ‘A’ Train.”
