Friday, April 12

Suspicious conditions, 12:12 a.m.: Third Street and Ransom Avenue. 

Theft, 9:40 a.m.: 1600 block of Highway 101. 

Injury vehicle accident, 11:34 a.m.: A caller reportedly heard an engine rev and a vehicle run into multiple RVs on Lower Harbor Road. The operator of the vehicle was initially unresponsive, but came to a few minutes later. Harbor Fire and Cal-Ore responded to assist. Two victims were transported to the hospital. 

Found property, 11:38 a.m.: A new bike was left in front of the Elks Lodge. Public works took possession of the bike to store until an owner is able to come forward and identify the bike. 

Fire, 11:50 p.m.: A caller reported her lights were flickering unusually the evening before. She noticed one light socket the next morning was black around the outlet. Brookings Fire responded to the 500 block of Pine Street to check the outlet and noticed a faulty wire. The caller was advised to contact her landlord to have the problem fixed. 

Field interview, 12:11 p.m.: A high school student was warned for being on Azalea Middle School property after school hours per district policy. 

Drug distribution, 2:36 p.m.: An off-duty officer witnessed two known subjects in a drug deal in the 900 block of Chetco Avenue. Officers arrived at location and two men were arrested. They were later transported to Curry County Jail. 

Non-injury vehicle accident, 2:52 p.m.: A caller reported a van in the ditch at Rainbow Rock and Carpenterville roads. Brookings Fire and Cal-Ore responded. 

Driving complaint, 6:10 p.m.: A complaint was received for a vehicle all over the road that nearly crashed into the bridge and last seen pulling into a local apartment complex. Officers were unable to locate a vehicle matching the description at the apartment complex and surrounding areas. 

Dispute/fight, 6:47 p.m.: A fight between three men was reported in the 600 block of Fifth Street. All parties were counseled and advised to stay separated. 

Animal complaint, 7:14 p.m.: A lost, deaf cocker spaniel, later found by owner at a neighbor’s residence in the 1200 block of Iris Street. The neighbor was holding on to the dog so it wouldn’t get hurt running around near the road. 

Dispute/fight, 7:16 p.m.: A citizen reported loud music playing and a woman screaming at someone in the 400 block of Smith Drive. An officer made contact. The parties involved admitted to loud music and advised they were probably yelling over the volume to each other.

Brookings police officers also made traffic stops issuing citations and warnings, assisted the public, and gathered information.

Saturday, April 13 

Missing person, 2:47 a.m.: A juvenile reported missing from his home in the 979090 block of Olsen Lane returned to his residence. 

Animal complaint, 9:01 a.m.: A male bull terrier, gray with white chest, was at large on Pioneer Road heading toward Hassett Street. 

Dispute/fight, 9:32 a.m.: 600 block of Fifth Street. 

Water problem, 9:51 a.m.: A water line break was reported on Oceanview Drive. Harbor Water District responded. 

Theft, 10:46 a.m.: A skateboard reported stolen from the garage of a residence in the 800 blcok of Limbaugh Way was found at a neighbor boy’s house. 

Hazard, 11:13 a.m.: Vehicle parked about 2 feet from the curb was reported as a hazard in the 900 block of Midland Way. It was gone when an officer checked the location. 

Parking violation, 12:59 p. m.: A vehicle that has been in the 96300 block of Dawson Road for more than a month was reported as not having moved. An officer found the vehicle was legally parked. 

Field interview, 2:08 p.m.: Two juveniles were counseled by an officer for riding their scooters at high rates of speed near Fifth and Easy streets. 

Warrant service, 2:13 p.m.: A man wanted out of the Eureka Police Department was arrested in the16300 block of Highway 101. 

Threats, 3:11 p.m.: A caller reported a dispute in the 17200 block of Mountain Drive. 

Water problem, 4:20 p.m.: Alder Street. 

Telephone harassment, 6:24 p.m.: An ongoing dispute between parents with restraining orders and custodial issues was reported in the 500 block of Ransom Avenue. 

Fire, 9:05 p.m.: Brookings Fire Department checked a residence in the 800 block of Highland Avenue where there was smoke in the garage. It turned out a water heater had shorted out. Breaker was shut off until the landlord could be contacted for repair. 

Possession of drugs, 10:09 pm.: Two adults were arrested for possession of meth and other charges in the 800 block Chetco Avenue. 

Probation violation, 11:48 p.m.: A man was arrested for a probation violation on Azalea Park Road.

Brookings police also made several traffic stops, giving warnings for cell phone use while driving, and issued citations; assisted the public, and gathered information. 

Sunday, April 14

Dispute/fight, 11:40 a.m.: A dispute reported in the 17200 block of Garvin Court was a custodial issue with an out-of-the-area grandparent. 

Found property, 4:50 p.m.:  Kellogg Beach, Fort Dick. 

Shots fired, 5:54 p.m.: 7100 block of Vista Ridge Drive. 

Dispute/fight, 8:09 p.m.: Cypress Street. 

Attempt to locate, 8:28 p.m.: Highway 101 near milepost 361. 

Monday, April 15 

Assault, 12:34 a.m.: 98100 block of West Benham Lane. 

Identity theft, 9:17 a.m.: The fraudulent use of a Social Security number was reported in the 900 block of Seventh Street. 

Dispute/fight, 10:41 a.m.: 900 block of Hassett Street. 

Assist public, 12:45 p.m.: A caller in the 16300 block of Grootendorst Lane wanted an intoxicated person to leave his property. 

Telephone harassment, 2:30 p.m.: A woman in the 900 block of Marina Heights Road reported she is still receiving phone calls after the other person was told by police to cease communications. 

Theft, 4:57 p.m.: 600 block of Old County Road. 

Lost property, 5:32 p.m.: A citizen put wallet on top of his vehicle, then drove away from the 300 block of Spruce Drive. He was unable to locate the wallet. 

Juvenile problem, 6:34 p.m.: Juvenile problem was reported in the 96400 block of Alder Ridge Road.
