Friday, April 5

Shots fired, 1:47 a.m.: 17000 block of Ferry Creek Road.

Criminal trespass, 9:56 a.m.: 600 block of Memory Lane. 

Assault, 11:36 a.m.: A man was arrested for assaulting his girlfriend in the 300 block of Fifth Street. 

Suspicious conditions, 3:19 p.m.: Wild Blackberry Lane. 

Dispute/fight, 3:52 p.m.: A minor family dispute was reported in the 500 block of Fir Street. The people separated for the evening to cool off. 

Suspicious conditions, 4:25 p.m.: 300 block of Tanbark Road. 

Hazard, 4:34 p.m.: Highway 101 near milepost 346. 

Littering, 5:03 p.m.: 900 block of Chetco Avenue. 

Saturday, April 6 

Dispute/fight, 2:15 a.m.: Multiple 911 and business-line calls reported a fight at 101 Bar and Grill involving several people, one reportedly carrying a knife. No deputy was on duty at the time of the call; however, several people at the scene were able to detain the man who had the knife until a deputy could arrive. That man was arrested and transported to Curry County Jail. One person was taken to the hospital; several others who had minor injuries declined transport. 

Dispute/fight, 10:43 a.m.: 95700 block of House Rock Road. 

Animal complaint, 12:51 p.m.: An anonymous caller requested welfare check on two dogs she believes are being neglected in the 700 block of First Street. 

Theft 3:27 p.m.: 700 block of Pioneer Road. 

Forgery/fraud/bad check, 5:02 p.m.:  97900 block of  Lively Lane. 

Loud noise, 8:38 p.m.: Police received a complaint of music that was too loud in the 600 block of Chetco Avenue. An officer responded and requested the doors to the business be closed.     

Probation violation, 11:44 p.m.: A report will be forwarded to the courts for a man who violated his probation by consuming alcohol in the 500 block of Fir Street. 

Sunday, April 7

Hazard, 3:57 a.m.: A caller reported a rock slide covering the westbound lane a quarter of a mile up North Bank Chetco River Road. An officer responded to assist with traffic control and cleared a small amount of rock chunks out of the road. 

Traffic stop, 10:39 a.m.: A driver was given a verbal warning for failure to obey a traffic control device after he sat through green light while talking on a hands-free phone.

Animal complaint, 12:30 p.m.: A white pit bull was found on Oak Street. The owner was told to get a license for the dog by Saturday, or be cited.  

Intoxicated subject, 12:46 p.m.: A call was transferred to the California Highway Patrol regarding an intoxicated driver on Highway 101 near Crescent City. 

Fire, 2:16 p.m.: A caller reported a fire on Arizona Street in Port Orford. 

Salvation Army referral, 3:01 p.m.: Two people were stranded in Brookings trying to get back to Newport on foot with only one sleeping bag. They were given a bus tickets to Coos Bay and an old blanket from Brookings Fire Department. 

Theft, 3:32 p.m.: A wallet was stolen from a residence on Kings Way. 

Intoxicated subject, 5:03 p.m.: Two intoxicated men were told to leave a business in the 1000 block of Chetco Avenue. 

Misuse of 911,  5:33 p.m.: A caller on a cell phone at the Port of Brookings Harbor stated that he needed police, then said he would call back and hung up. A deputy in area contacted the man who had called. 

Violation of restraining order, 6:39 p.m.: A man was arrested for a restraining order violation on the Chetco River bridge. 

Attempt to locate, 6:46 p.m.: An officer located a runaway juvenile from Port Orford at Chetco Avenue and Alder Street and released him to an alternate foster family per Juvenile Department directive. 

Field interview, 10:17 p.m.: A transient man was contacted and warned for riding his skateboard in the roadway and in the wrong direction of travel in the 600 block of Chetco Avenue. He was provided with bus information. 

Tree down, 9:50 p.m.: Police received a report of large tree and landslide approximately 5 miles up Winchuck River Road. 

 Monday, April 8 

Unauthorized use of a vehicle, 9:08 a.m.: A resident in the 600 block of Old County Road reported his vehicle was taken from his driveway. 

Field interview, 10:10 a.m.: Police received a report by the school of an adult taking a vehicle out of the parking lot. It turned out to be a parent. 

Parking violation, 10:19 a.m.: A suspicious vehicle parked in bank parking lot in the 700 block of Chetco Avenue was actually OK. 

Civil problem, 10:52 a.m.: An officer mediated a civil issue between two people in the 600 block of Railroad Street. 

Found property, 11:58 a.m.: Tires with rims were found by in the 400 block of Alder Street. 

Transient information, 12:44 p.m.: Transients thought to be camping in Azalea Park turned out to be newcomers to the area who were drying out their belongings. 

Information, 2:05 p.m.: An officer spoke to two people regarding phone harassment.

Animal complaint, 3:01 p.m.: Neighbors complained about a dog constantly barking on Midland Way. 

Hazard, 3:16 p.m.: Excess gravel was reported on the roadway on North Bank Chetco River Road. 

Dispute/fight, 3:26 p.m.: Two juveniles who were having a disagreement at Chetco Avenue and Oak Street were asked to move on. 

Assist public, 3:59 p.m.: An officer assisted citizen in the 600 block of Old County Road who had been the attempted victim of a telephone scam. 

Suspicious conditions, 4:25 p.m.: An officer followed up on a report of a suspicious vehicle in the 300 block of Fifth Street that matched the description of the car driven by a suspect in a recent attempted child abduction. It was not the vehicle in question. 

Criminal mischief, 4:33 p.m.: A man was arrested for criminal mischief after throwing a rock into the window of a business in the 200 block of Spruce Street. 

Fire, 4:41 p.m.: A reported vehicle fire turned out to be a coolant leak in the 500 block of Pacific Avenue. Brookings Fire Department responded. 

Harassment, 5:33 p.m.: An officer took a report from a young man stating he had been assaulted by a woman wearing a pink jacket while he was at Fred Meyer. 

Warrant service, 5:28 p.m.: A pregnant woman turned herself in to Brookings Police Department on two warrants. Per the jail’s instructions, she was cited into Circuit Court for the next morning. 

Hazard, 5:51 p.m.: North Bank Chetco River Road. 

Suspicious conditions, 6:52 p.m.: 600 block of Old County Road. 

Harassment, 7:05 p.m.: An officer took a report from citizen in the 100 block of Tanbark Road regarding verbal  harassment. 

Criminal trespass, 8:58 p.m.: A man was asked to leave the parking lot of a business in the 1000 block of Chetco Avenue and refused. Officers responded and he left in lieu of being arrested. 

Assault, 9:17 p.m.: An assault was reported in the 16000 block of Kings Way. The victim came to the police station and an officer photographed visible injuries and the information was shared with Curry County Sheriff’s Office.
