Carole M. Rush
Carole Marie Rush, 92, passed away peacefully of natural causes at the Chetco Inn Residential Care Facility where she received excellent tender care and love in her final days.

Carole was born  Jan. 2, 1921, in Hinns, Minn., to Owen and Nettie Carter.

She spent most of her youth in Blackduck, Minn.

In 1936, when Carole was 15, she moved with her family to Oregon in a Model T Ford.

She married her high-school sweetheart Gale Rush at the home of his parents Virgil and Mabel Rush, in Ashland, soon after graduating from high school there.

The young couple spent five years in Klamath Falls before moving to Brookings in 1945. They built their home here, while living in a 17-man Army tent until  the house was finished.

Carole enjoyed T.O.P.S. meetings, sewing, and rock hunting with her “rockhound” husband Gale. Her grandchildren were her joy in life.

Carole is survived by her son Gene Rush and daughter Rose Hopkins; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; sisters Gail and Laurie; and several nieces and nephews. She is loved by many and will be missed.

She was preceded in death by Gale, her husband of more than 55 years, who died in 1995;  parents Owen and Nettie Carter; and three sisters. Her son Thomas Rush died accidentally in 1982 and infant son Owen Joseph Rush died in 1944.

A graveside service will be held at a later date, to be announced.

Submitted by the family.
