Allan Edward Peterson, 72, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, in Star, Idaho, as a result of complications from diabetes.

Allan was born June 19, 1941, in Inglewood, Calif., to Mary and Paul Peterson.

He attended Antelope Valley High School in Lancaster, Calif.

As a young man Allan worked in various fields of employment. He, with his father and brother Barron, co-owned and managed a small resort named Little Norway in South Lake Tahoe, Calif. He was also involved there in the realty business. He worked in the film industry in Southern Calif., and went on to work in the restaurant business with his sister Marilyn in Meridian, Idaho.

After moving to Brookings in 2004, Allan worked first as a bartender and then as the manager of Smuggler’s Cove Restaurant. He made a great drink and always had a new joke to share. Most of all, Allan enjoyed the people. Allan loved to ride his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He was an avid reader and loved music and dancing.

Allan moved to Star in 2011, after living in Brookings for seven years.

Surviving are brother Barron Peterson (La Vonne) of Brookings; sister Marilyn Williams (Fred) of Meridian; daughters Beth Martinazzi (Michael) of Fresno, Calif., Dana Peterson-Stabenow (David) of Cameron Park, Calif., Jennifer Peterson-Makar (Brian) of Sacramento, Calif., and Whitney Peterson of Palm Springs, Calif.  Also surviving are grandchildren Alessandra Martinazzi, Aaron Martinazzi,  Evann Stabenow, Karley Makar and Edward Makar; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Allan was preceded in death by his mother Mary Peterson; father Paul Peterson; and daughter Kimberly Applegate.

No service is planned, but there will be a private celebration of life in June at his sister Marilyn’s home in McCall, Idaho.
