Tuesday, Nov. 13

Criminal  mischief, 8:58 a.m.: A citizen in the 400 block of Maple Street was concerned about items in the back yard having been moved around. An officer determined the damage was probably caused by an animal. 

Found property, 9:49 a.m.: A Coast Guard identification card was found and turned in to the police department. The owner was notified. 

Suspicious conditions, 11:35 a.m.: A citizen in the 400 block of Hillside Avenue was concerned that someone had attempted to enter the apartment while she was sleeping. An officer found no signs of attempted forced entry. 

Misuse of 911, 2:40 p.m.: A local citizen called 911 to report his wallet had been lost in Portland several days ago. He was referred to Portland area police and the business line for future non-emergency calls.

Hazard, 6:44 p.m.: A small dark-colored car was parked halfway into the lane about 1 mile up North Bank Chetco River Road. Curry County Sheriff’s Department was advised of the hazard. 

Suspicious conditions, 7:22 p.m.: A citizen thought two men were attempting to break into vehicles in a parking lot. After speaking with the two men, the officer was unable to confirm. However, the men were advised of the complaint. 

Wednesday, Nov. 14

Theft, 1:26 a.m.:  A bike was taken from in front of a business in the 600 block of Chetco Avenue. 

Hazard, 11:55 am.: A large vehicle was broken down and blocking one lane of Highway 101 at House Rock. 

Hit and run, 4:06 p.m.: Pacific Avenue or Pioneer Road. 

Theft, 5:20 p.m.: A citizen reported license plates were stolen from his truck in the 1100 block of Chetco Avenue. 

Fight, 6:10 p.m.: An employee of a business reported a physical dispute in the 97900 block of Shopping Center Avenue. The call was transferred to the Curry County Sheriff’s Office.

Thursday, Nov. 15

Fight, 2:11 a.m.: A verbal dispute was reported in the 97900 block of Lively Lane. The call was transferred to the Curry County Sheriff’s Office.

Fight, 4:21 a.m.: A dispute was reported in the 15300 block of Highway 101 in Smith River. The call was transferred to the Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office.

Fire, 11:53 a.m.: Brookings Fire Department was dispatched to the report of a fire on Buena Vista Loop. The fire was caused by a small gas leak from a boat.

Found property, 1:56 p.m.: A wallet with no identification was found on Easy Street. It was placed in the lost and found drawer at the police station.

Theft, 3:31 p.m.: 1200 block of Easy Street.

Juvenile problem, 5:06 p.m.: A caller reported a group of juveniles were running in the crosswalk in the 700 block of Chetco Avenue, and it was unsure if they were trying to cross the highway or had been placing something in the crosswalk.

Juvenile problem, 5:54 p.m.: A citizen was concerned about KidTown being over ran by older kids.

Suspicious conditions, 5:57 p.m.: A suspicious vehicle was reported at Kalmiopsis Elementary School with someone possibly illegally camping. The owner of the vehicle was out walking her cat while waiting for her child.

Criminal trespassing, 6:16 p.m.: A caller in the 900 block of Hassett Street reported a man was not welcome on the property. The man was gone when police arrived.

Fire, 9:33 p.m.: A large bonfire was reported in the front yard of a residence in the 500 block of Ransom Avenue. The resident put out the fire.

Animal complaint, 10:24 p.m.: A dog was found at Fern Avenue and Hassett street and placed in the pen on Railroad Street. An officer checked on the dog at 4 a.m. and found he had escaped, but still in the area. The dog refused to approach the officer to be returned to the pen.
