Friday, Oct. 26

Suspicious conditions, 11:29 a.m.: Possible vehicle matching description from attempted abduction, Shopping Center Avenue. 

Suspicious conditions, 12:47 p.m.: Employee reported suspicious vehicle possibly matching one involved in attempted abduction, Railroad Street. 

Found property, 1:34 p.m.: 500 block of Pacific Avenue. 

Suspicious conditions, 1:49 p.m.: A man in a large dark gray 4-door pickup got out of his truck and took pictures of the caller’s address, then left, 16000 block of Parkview Drive. 

Suspicious conditions, 3:06 p.m.: A lady is going door to door saying she is selling insurance; also asking for banking information, 98600 block of Camellia Drive. 

Loud noise, 4:12 p.m.: 700 block of Pioneer Road. 

Theft, 6:38 p.m.: Caller advised two subjects were being watched for theft, however they left after leaving their cart in the store. No purchases made, 300 block of Fifth Street. 

Public assist: 6:46 p.m.: Juvenile checked in with police department. She had heard she was entered as a runaway. This was unfounded, 800 block of Elk Drive. 

DUII, 7:11 p.m.: Vehicle jumped curb at the Onion Grill restaurant, bumped into caller’s vehicle and continued on into the drive through. Operator of vehicle arrested for DUII, 300 block of Fifth Street. 

Fight, 7:22 p.m.: 14000 block of Highway 101. 

Shots fired, 8:14 p.m.: Caller reported gunshots fired in the Fawn Drive area. Reserve officers at the football game witnessed fireworks go into the air in the Fawn Drive area. On-duty officer checked surrounding areas. Nothing further found, Ransom Avenue/Fawn Drive. 

Suspicious conditions, 8:25 p.m.: Caller witnessed a male attempting to get into his vehicle; followed the male around the block and a backpack was left behind. No damage or theft from the vehicle was found. Information only for the time, 600 block of Easy Street. 

Suspicious conditions, 9:34 p.m.: Lights on in home, 700 block of FIfth Street. 

Safety/traffic hazard, 9:45 pm.: Road hazard on Highway 101 just south of House Rock Road. 

Criminal trespass, 11:27 p.m.: Transient stayed a couple of days at caller’s residence doing some work. Now he is intoxicated and refusing to leave, Curry County Sheriff’s Office advised, 97000 block of Dodge Avenue. 

Saturday, Oct. 27 

Harassment, 2:50 a.m.: Dispute between male and intoxicated female. Female left on foot, 500 block of Fir Street.

Intoxicated subject, 3:37 a.m.: Intoxicated male walking in the lane of traffic, Officer unable to locate, Chetco River bridge. 

Found property, 9:49 a.m.: Found money on Memory Lane. 

Suspicious conditions, 12:49 p.m.: Transient feeding a homeowner’s dog, and was asked to move on at owner’s request, 500 block of Spruce Street. 

Found property, 2:28 p.m.: Phone found at post office, 700 block of Spruce Street. 

Criminal mischief, 3:19 p.m.: While caller was at work, unknown subject wrote in red on her white vehicle, 400 block of Hillside Street. 

Suspicious conditions, 4:02 p.m.: Citizen reported male transient lying in the flowers at the corner of Fifth and Railroad streets, moaning. Officers  contacted subject who was advised against loitering. Subject moved along as asked. 

Carrying concealed weapon 7:26 p.m.: Physical fight between three male subjects. One cited for carrying a concealed switchblade. 

Suspicious conditions, 7:39 p.m.: Volunteer at Harris Beach reported two suspicious male transients who were being verbally abusive toward her in the bathroom area. Caller locked herself in her vehicle until police arrived. Two subjects were not located, Harris Beach. 

Loud noise, 10:18 p.m.: Two subjects, male and female, in different apartments, called to report the other was being loud and disorderly. After speaking with a few neighbors, the male was counseled on noise offenses, 700 block of Pioneer Road.  

Suspicious conditions, 11:14 p.m.: Suspicious male subject reported to officer at separate location. Officer found an extremely intoxicated male subject matching the description who was singing loudly in the streets. Subject got into a taxi and left the area, 700 block of Fifth Street.

Sunday, Oct. 28 

Suspicious conditions, 2:20 p.m.: Suspicious subjects near the restroom at Harris Beach Rest Area. Subjects were gone when officer arrived to check the area, 1600 block of Highway 101. 

Shots fired, 4:29 p.m.: Resident reported what sounded like three gunshots, this being the third time within the hour; officer thoroughly checked area, but was unable to locate a source. Periodic checks made through the shift. Nothing else reported or heard by officers. 

Animal complaint, 4:36 p.m.: Caller and young daughter chased by unleashed boxer at north jetty beach; dog owner warned about leash law, Memory and Kendall lanes.  

Assault, 5:04 p.m.: Man assaulted by transient in Harbor; declined ambulance. Information transferred to station 2, 97900 block of Shopping Center Avenue. 

Warrant service, 7:01 p.m.: Traffic stop led to driver’s arrest for warrant service, Fifth Street and Chetco Avenue. 

Fight, 8:48 p.m.: 16700 block of Salmonberry Road. 

Misuse of 911, 9:22 p.m.: male called 911 from public phone at McDonalds – not with an emergency, but because he had been cited earlier in the day by the Sheriff’s Office, and he was frustrated that now they won’t listen to what he has to say. Officer met him in police department lobby, listened to him, counseled him for misuse of 911, and suggested he attempt to follow up on this matter in the morning, 800 block of Chetco Avenue. 

Monday, Oct. 29 

Suspicious conditions, 2:24 a.m.: 500 block of Fern Street. 

Fight, 5:50 a.m.: Couple fighting in parked vehicle in parking lot were asked to move on, 800 block of Chetco Avenue. 

Transient information, 7:48 a.m.: Transient sleeping advised to move on; reminded about city ordinance – no camping in city limits, Ross Road. 

Suspicious conditions, 10:12 a.m.: Female runner felt she was being stalked by a vehicle, Fifth and Ransom streets. 

Threats, 11:28 a.m.: Resident being threatened by a telemarketer, Park Avenue. 

Found property, 11:35 a.m.: Found debit card in the area of Ransom Avenue.

Animal complaint, 11:58 a.m.: Elderly female bike rider scared by a dog running at large, fell off her bike, but refused assistance, North Hazel area. 

Lost property, 12:25 p.m.: Lost computerized remote car key, Brookings area. 

Lost property, 12:35 p.m.: Lost purse somewhere between Brookings and Lucky 7 Casino in California or Oregon. 

Found property, 2:15 p.m.: Found electronic key for Mazda, 97600 block of Marina Heights Loop. 

Fight, 4:59 p.m.: Verbal dispute, transferred to sheriff patrol, 15900 block of Bayview Drive.  

Parking violation, 6 p.m.: Semi-truck parked at location blocking part of the roadway. Operator was waiting for someone; relocated to Harris Beach rest area, Mill Beach Road and Fifield Street. 

Suspicious conditions, 7:02 p.m.: 15800 block of Oceanview Drive. 

Shots fired, 8:39 p.m.: Reported shots fired; transferred to sheriff patrol. Evidently noise was a backfire from a vehicle at Harbor Fire Department. 

Fight, 8:55 p.m.: Caller reported a possible dispute in a camper, transferred to sheriff patrol. Deputy found a man that was intoxicated, and on the phone, P and Q dock, Port of Brookings Harbor. 

Animal complaint, 9:08 p.m.: Caller reported five or six elk in the road. Advised Oregon State Police, Near Winchuck River. 

Animal complaint, 9:41 p.m.: Citizen reported two horses loose at location, city units advised, all in code 4, Moore Street, behind Flying Gull restaurant. 

Traffic stop, 11:34 p.m.: K9 deployment, operator arrested for marijuana; booked in Curry County Jail, 1100 block of Chetco Avenue.
