Members of the Brookings-Harbor High School Atlas and Athena program leadership team kicked off the program with a half day of training provided by Atlas and Athena Director of Programs Michelle Otis and members of her team.

Thursday morning at 8 a.m., selected members of various sports teams in the BHHS athletics program met together for brief orientation before splitting into their respective programs: Atlas for boys and Athena for girls.

Training is being provided so the student leaders can use skills learned to reach out and teach their fellow students to stay free of drugs and alcohol and maintain a positive and healthy outlook on their physical selves.

Otis was joined by Esther Moe, Ph.D., Kerry Kuehl, Ph.D., and Rachel Drushella, all members of faculty and staff at Oregon Health and Sciences University in Portland.
