Monday, July 23

Deceased dog, 1:22 p.m.: A caller reported a deceased dog in the lane of travel on Highway 101 near milepost 334.

Disabled motorist, 1:24 p.m.: Highway 101 near milepost 349.

Hazard, 2:45 p.m.: An obstruction on Highway 101 near milepost 361 was removed by a trooper.

Tuesday, July 24

Driving complaint, 7/24 7 a.m.
A caller reported silver BMW was speeding in excess of 100 mph and passing on double yellow lines near milepost 319.

Driving complaint, 11:30 a.m.: While on patrol near milepost 288 a trooper was contacted by a vacationing police officer who reported another motorist was driving erratically and cutting off other vehicles. The suspected motorist was stopped in Langlois. At the discretion of the off-duty officer, the suspect driver was warned for the violations observed by the officer.

Friday, July 27

Found property, 7:10 p.m.: A wallet and its possessions belonging to a Redding, Calif., man was given to a trooper at Whaleshead Beach. The wallet was turned into the Brookings Police Department.

Monday, July 30

Warrant arrest, 11 a.m.: A motorist was stopped for seatbelt violation on Highway 101 near milepost 352. An investigation revealed the 47-year-old man was wanted out of Josephine County Circuit Court for contempt of court. He was also found to be driving his vehicle while uninsured and with an expired registration. He was cited and his vehicle was impounded. After the man exited the vehicle, he suffered a severe panic attack and requested an ambulance. He was transported to Curry General Hospital for treatment.

Injury traffic crash, 12:50 p.m.: A 78-year-old Brookings woman was southbound on Highway 101 waiting to make a left turn into a business near Benham Lane and  proceeded to turn into the path of a northbound vehicle driven by a 71-year-old Brookings man. The man’s vehicle collided with the passenger side of the woman’s vehicle. The woman reported minor injuries but refused treatment. She was cited for making a dangerous left turn. Both vehicles were towed.

Criminal trespassing, 5:20 p.m.: A trooper filed a report of a neighbor trespassing at a residence in the 94400 block of Shadow Lane in Gold Beach.
