Brookings-Harbor

Wednesday, July 4

•The annual Fourth of July Children’s Parade will line up at 9 a.m. at the Chetco Community Public Library, 405 Alder St., and step off at 10 a.m.

•Bluegrass on the Boardwalk will begin at 11 a.m. at the Port of Brookings Harbor’s new grass area at the boardwalk extension. Bands performing include Sequoia, Water Tower Duo, Bear Creek, The No Good Redwood Ramblers and Prairie Dog Backfire. Admission is $3 or free upon presentation of a Bi-Mart membership card. Bring a chair or blanket for seating.

•A beer garden will be at the Port of Brookings Harbor beginning at 11 a.m.

•A Fourth of July Barbecue and Field Day begins at noon at Azalea Park to raise funds for the Friends of the Brookings-Harbor Aquatic Center.

•The 15th annual Community Chili Cook-Off, sponsored by  Slugs ’N’ Stones ’N’ Ice Cream Cones, takes place from 1 to 3 p.m. on the Port of Brookings Harbor boardwalk. The cost is a $4 donation.

•A fireworks show will light the skies over Sporthaven Beach at the Port of Brookings Harbor at dusk.


Gold Beach

Wednesday, July 4

•A Fourth of July celebration will take place from 4 to 10 p.m. at Jot’s Resort. Festivities include a barbecue, DJ music and karaoke, patriotic hat and pie eating contests.

•Jerry’s Rogue Jets will have a Fireworks Bay Cruise at 8:45 p.m. from the Port of Gold Beach. Riders will be able to watch the fireworks show from a jet boat on Lower Rogue River Bay. Space is limited. Reservations are recommended by calling 541-247-4571 or 800-451-3645.

•A fireworks show will begin at 10:05 p.m. over the Lower Rogue River Bay.

Thursday, July 5

•Ellensburg Theater Company presents the movie “Grease” at 7 p.m. at the Rogue Playhouse, 94196 Moore St.. Admission is free. For information, call 541-247-4ETC (4382).

Friday, July 6

•Jerry’s Rogue Jets will be offering a special jet boat cruise from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Call 541-247-4571 or 800-451-3645 for more information.

•A Fabulous ’50s Fling Car Show reception will be at Happy Days Malt Shop, 29935 Harbor Way.

•Elvis impersonator Tony La Torre will perform his “Three Kings” show at 7 p.m. at the Rogue Playhouse, 94196 Moore St. Stephanie La Torre will perform between sets. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and younger. For reservations, call 541-247-4ETC (4382).

Saturday, July 7

•An all-you-can-eat breakfast will be served at the Gold Beach Senior Center, 29841 Airport Way.

•Hydroplane qualifying races will take place on the Lower Rogue River at 10:30 a.m.

•A Veterans Memorial groundbreaking ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. at the Port of Gold Beach.

•Fabulous ’50s Fling at the Port of Gold Beach will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Events include music, a dog contest, a car and motorcycle veterans benefit show,  a Love Your Pooch contest, food, vendors and a beer garden.

•A classic car caravan will cruise down Highway 101 from the Gold Beach Visitor Center to the Port of Gold Beach from noon to 1 p.m.

•A Sock Hop will be from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Event Center on the Beach, 29392 Ellensburg Ave. Music will be both recorded and live. Free jitterbug lessons precede the dance at 5 p.m.


Port Orford

Wednesday, July 4

•A sandcastle building contest will be from 7 to 10 a.m. on Dock Beach at the end of Dock Road.

•Port Orford Rotary Club will be serving a pancake breakfast at the American Legion Hall on 11th St. from 7 to 10 a.m.

•A flower show and student photography display will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Port Orford Library, 1421 Oregon St.

•A quilt show will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Community Building on 11th Street.

•A variety of events will take place at Battle Rock State Park and in nearby downtown Port Orford beginning at 9:30 a.m. Events include sidewalk chalk art, an art sale, barbecue, dunk tank, art walk, dingy races and a hotcake eating contest.

•The Port Orford Jubilee Parade begins at 11 a.m. The parade route begins at the south end of town and follows Jackson Street to 19th Street.

•A spaghetti lunch will be served from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Port Orford Senior Center, 1536 Jackson St. The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children 12 and younger.

•Horse games will be played from 1 to 5 p.m. at Buffington Memorial Park Arena on 14th St.

•The annual Jerry Can Races will be at 3 p.m. at Port Orford Heads State Park.

•A fireworks show will be over Battle Rock State Park at dusk.

Friday, July 6

•A potluck dinner will be at 5 p.m. at Beachcombers Cove on Nicholson Drive. A casual dance will be at 7:30 followed by a square dance from 8 to 10 p.m.

Saturday, July 7

•Beachcombers Square Dance Club will have a fundraiser breakfast from 8 to 11 m. at Beachcombers Cove on Nicholson Drive.

•Beach golf will be played starting at 9 a.m. at Hubbard Creek and continue to Battle Rock State Park. The entry fee is $10.

•A Plus Dance will be from 2 to 4 p.m. at Beachcombers Cove on Nicholson Drive. A potluck will be at 5 p.m. and the Beachcombers Square Dance Club will have a 59th Birthday Dance at 7:30 followed by square dancing from 8 to 10 p.m.

Sunday, July 8

•A Heavenly Hoedown gospel dance will be from 9 to 11 a.m. at Beachcombers Cove on Nicholson Drive. Admission is $4 at the door.


Smith River

Wednesday, July 4

•The 34th annual Jed Smith Mountain Men Tall Trees Rendezvous takes place daily through Friday, July 6, at the Del Norte Rod & Gun Club, Rowdy Creek Road.

• Free hot air balloon rides and a Farmers Market are hosted by the Blumenstrauss RV Park, off Highway 101 North at Sarina Road.


Crescent City

Wednesday, July 4

•Pastels in the Park will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Howe Drive Park, located at the west end of Howe Drive across from the North Coast Marine Mammal Center.

•Activities will be under way all day starting at 9 a.m. at Beachfront Park, including a fun run, “BBQ war” contest, waterball contest, a ducky derby and cow chip bingo.

•Crescent City Art Festival will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Crescent City Cultural Center, 1001 Front St.

•A homemade pie and ice cream social will be at the Del Norte Historical Society museum, 577 H St., Crescent City.

•The annual Fourth of July Parade will begin at 10 a.m. at Eighth and H streets. The parade will follow H Street, Third Street, K Street and Front Street to Beachfront Park.

•Lighthouse Repertory Theater presents its annual  Fourth of July melodrama “Return, Back to the Melodrama, The Trilogy” or “The End of Time … Travel in Real D” at 3 p.m. at  United Methodist Church, 664 H St. Shows will also be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, July 5, 6 and 7. Tickets are $6.

•Fireworks will be displayed over Battery Point Lighthouse at dusk.
