Bryan Terrance ‘Bones’ Holm

Bryan Terrance Holm, of Brookings, died June 12, 2012, at the family homestead in Takilma.    

He was born May 4, 1945, in Kenosha, Wis.   

He was known to many as “Bones.” He has a heart of gold, and was a true free spirit, loved by all. He will truly be missed. 

He moved to Brookings in 1989, and married his true soul mate “Angel” in 1993.

Bryan led many lives. He was a smokejumper and  toymaker with his twin brother Bruce. He went to College of the Redwoods and became a registered nurse when he was in his 40s, and then worked as a RN at Pelican Bay State Prison in Crescent City. He retired in 2011.

He loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and belonged to the Sons of God Christian Motorcycle Club, Illinois Valley Chapter.

Bryan did volunteer work as a registered nurse in the free clinic at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church in Brookings.

He was very involved in theater and performed in many plays. He played the concertina and Irish flute. He was a great versatile entertainer.

Survivors include his wife Angele Holm of Brookings;   son Darby of Grants Pass,  daughter-in-law Lila of Grants Pass, daughter April Scarlett and her daughters of Vancouver, Wash.; son-in-law John Kiphart of Vancouver; stepdaughters Michelle Davis, of Cave Junction; Ineke Davis of Grants Pass; father Richard Holm of Lorton, Va.; stepsisters Teresa Graham of Virginia, and Diana Neese of Utah; half brothers Jeff Holm of Virginia; stepbrother Steve Holm of Virginia. Also surviving are three brothers-in-law, five sisters-in-law; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Bryan was preceded in death by his mother Muriel Holm and brothers David, Bruce and Christopher Holm. 

A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. today (June 23) at the Takilma Homestead, 9900 Takilma Road in Cave Junction. Guests may bring a dish and a chair for the potluck dinner to follow.
