Michael T. Mullen, 72, of Brookings, passed away June 14, 2011, at his home. Mike was born in San Francisco, Sept. 5, 1938, to John and Alita (Akers) Mullen. He graduated from Bellarmine College Preparatory in San Jose, Calif. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves and received his training at Fort Ord, Calif., in 1957. On April 18, 1970, Mike married the love of his life, Regina Doll, at St. Mary’s Church in Los Gatos, Calif. They lived in several different cities in California before they moved to Brookings in 2006. Regina preceded him in death in 2009. Mike belonged to many service groups. He had many hobbies, was an excellent cook, and an avid collector of many items including books and model cars. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 9:30 a.m., Friday, July 8, at Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 820 Old County Road, in Brookings, followed by a memorial Mass. Inurnment will be at a later date at the Roseburg National Cemetery in Roseburg. Memorial contributions may be made to Curry County Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 746, Gold Beach, OR 97444.
