Music programs in the Brookings-Harbor School District presented their final concerts of the school year in the past few days.

Azalea Middle School bands and choirs performed June 2 in the school’s multipurpose room. The music program is under the direction of Emmett McCutchenne.

The Beginning Band, Wind Ensemble, Concert Choir and Sound Wave vocal ensemble all performed a variety of songs. Accompanying the choirs on piano was Mayako Frazier.

The Brookings-Harbor High School music program, under the direction of Greg Goode, performed a “Summer Kick-Off” concert Wednesday night in the school auditorium.

The concert included refreshments, with the audience seated at tables to enjoy the cookies and punch while listening to the music.

Music was performed by the Concert Choir, Grace Notes girls choir, Sea Breeze vocal ensemble, Concert Band and Jazz Band. Accompanying the choir on piano was Virginia Riddle.

Highlighting the performance was the Concert Band’s performance of “Pirates of the Caribbean,” which Goode said was a difficult piece. The Jazz Band ended the concert with an encore.

Wednesday night’s concert was the last time the musicians performed together. Today (June 11) during graduation, freshman, sophomore and junior band members will perform “Pomp and Circumstance” and senior members of Sea Breeze will sing a special song.
