When Barbara Edmiston was installed as president of the Chetco Grange 765 on Dec. 15, she was also honored for having celebrated her 16th birthday in the same building 50 years prior to that day.

Past President Kathleen Dickson passed the gavel to Edmiston during the ceremony. Other officers were installed for a two-year term.

Grange members work to keep the hall open and functioning for community use. The goal is to put a new roof on the building and upgrade the kitchen.

The Grange serves many in the community by providing rental space for groups, weddings and dances, and is used annually for the Brookings-Harbor Garden Club Flower Show and Plant Sale. During the summer, the grounds serve the Farmers Market vendors, and in the fall, the vendors move inside.

Grange meetings are on the third Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m.
