Cousins & Co. music store, which has been in business 14 years at various locations in the Brookings-Harbor area, has moved from Earl E. Books to a new location: 615 Chetco Ave.

A grand re-opening, featuring music and refreshments, is scheduled for noon through 6 p.m. today (Oct. 30).

“The new location will give us the opportunity to once again become a full service music store,” said owner Kim Banfield.

The store will offer new and used instruments, strings and supplies,  instruction books and sheet music, hand percussion and drum supplies, school band books and supplies, Banfield said.

“We have expert technicians close by to repair or restring guitars, violins, mandolins, and most other stringed instruments.  In the near future we will also offer band instrument repair,” she said.

Banfield is offering a 10 percent discount on purchases by students who show a Brookings-Harbor High School identification. Students who enroll in a lesson program being offered by the nonprofit Stagelights Musical Arts Community will also receive the discount, she said.

The store, formally known as Cousins and Co. Music and Antiques, will also feature a small gift shop area filled with collectible and gift items, incense, hand-made items, greeting cards and other specialty items.

The store, open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, is located three doors south of the Redwood Theater.
