Larry Jackson and Jill Fairchild, the current co-owners (with a third silent partner) of Salty Dog Coffee Bar at the Port of Brookings Harbor, have announced plans in process for remodeling and expanding services to make their popular hangout even more user-friendly.

Jackson and Fairchild, who took possession of the coffee bar Nov. 1, 2009, are expanding seating areas, adding additional comfortable seating, including a comfy couch, and outside chairs and tables to allow clients to enjoy the perfect harbor view.

They emphasized that Salty Dog is no longer just a coffee bar. Milkshakes, smoothies, and custom drinks of many flavors are available in addition to blended hot and cold coffee drinks, plus daily homemade fresh pastries, Taylor Sausage hoagie dogs, brots and bratwurst.

“We also have T-shirts, sweatshirts, a new free delivery program, and karaoke,” Fairchild said.

She explained that delivery is available to business owners who would like to provide a special treat for their employees. “With a $20 minimum order, we will provide free delivery to their offices,” she said.

Jackson and Fairchild and Fairchild’s son and daughter, Ronnie and Karen, who help keep the place running, are even more excited about karaoke nights planned for the first and third Friday of each month. Karaoke nights will be open to young people ages 16 and older, or younger if accompanied by a parent, and Eric and April Gothard will be on hand to help out and add to the excitement.

“We want to provide a non-alcohol, fun place to be,” Fairchild said. “And on holiday weekends we will have extended outdoor barbecue for the hot dogs,” Jackson added.

Fairchild and Jackson are proud of Salty Dog’s recognition as the 2010 Readers’ Choice for fun place to be and best coffee. They insist that their establishment is going to be even more fun, and will continue to offer the best coffee drinks with ever-expanding choices available.
