Wednesday, Dec. 23 A 28-foot recreational vessel was disabled near the Chetco No. 2 buoy. A good Samaritan assisted before a resource was launched. U.S. Coast Guard Station Chetco River stood by and provided communications help. Monday, Dec. 28 10 a.m.: U.S. Coast Guard Station Chetco River conducted surf training with two 47-foot motor lifeboats at Cone Rock. Tuesday, Dec. 29 7 a.m.: The fishing vessel Equinox hailed a 47-foot motor lifeboat from U.S. Coast Guard Station Chetco River that was under way on a first-light bar patrol. The Equinox had lost its steering between the Chetco River jetties. The motor lifeboat was on scene within a minute and towed the vessel away from danger and moored it at the Port of Brookings-Harbor. |
