Mary Adaline Kimpel

Mary Adaline Kimpel, 93, Oswego, N.Y., died Sept.. 22, 2000.

She was born Feb. 1, 1907, in Iwosco County, Mich., to Samuel and Adaline (Noble) Bohnsack.

She was raised in Lansing, Mich., and later moved with her parents to Cleveland, Ohio, where she attended high school.

She met and married Alfred B. Kimpel in 1926. They lived and worked in the Cleveland area until 1959 when they moved to Whittier, Calif.

In 1971, they moved to Brookings where they raised four daughters.

Mrs. Kimpel moved to Myrtle Point in 1992 with her daughter and son-in-law. In 1999, she moved to New York with her daughter.

She was an accomplished seamstress and also knitted and crocheted hundreds of items for family, friends and charity. She patiently shared her talents and inspired others to learn, her family said.

Mrs. Kimpel was an active member of the Myrtle Point Baptist Church. She was also a prayer warrior.

Survivors are daughters and sons-in-laws Jacquelin and William P. Ambrose; Judy and Barry Failor; Jill and Vern VerHage; daughter Joanne MacDowell.

Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death was her husband Alfred B. Kimpel and her brothers Noble, Spencer and Homer Bohnsack.

A memorial service is scheduled for today (Sept. 27) at 2 p.m. at Myrtle Point Baptist Church.

Pastor Dale Brown will officiate.

Graveside services are scheduled for Sept. 28 at Ward Memorial Cemetery in Brookings. Pastor Wil Winter of Grace Bible Church will officiate.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Gideons International, 2900 Lebanon Road, Nashville, TN 37214.

Arrangements are under the direction of Scantlins Brookings Mortuary Chapel.
