The Curry-Del Norte Orchestra is presenting a trio of winter concerts featuring festive classical music from around the world.
The concerts are 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, at Bethany Lutheran Church at 94190 Fifth St. in Gold Beach, 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, at Elk Valley Rancheria at 2332 Howland Hill Road in Crescent City and 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4, at Trinity Lutheran Church at 1200 Easy St. in Brookings.
This orchestra consists of more than 40 musicians from the community. It is under the direction of Daniel Sedgwick, who has been a musician with the orchestra under previous directors and serves as band director at Del Norte High School in Crescent City.
Music to be peformed includes “The New World Symphony, No. 95” by Antonin Dvorak, “Olympic Fanfare and Theme” by John Williams, “The Nutcracker Suite” by Tchaikovski, “Fantasia on Greensleeves” by R. Vaughan Williams, “The Polar Express” by Silvestri, “Somerset Overture” by Robert Parker and “Sleigh Ride” by Leroy Anderson.
Advance tickets are $10 for general admission and can be purchased at Gold Beach Books in Gold Beach, Del Norte Office Supply in Crescent City, Wright’s Custom Framing and Art Supplies in Brookings and online at www.currydelnorteorchestra.org. Students are admitted free. General admission tickets are $12 at the door.
