Fifteen trees have been decorated and on display at the fourth annual ChariTree Event from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. today (Dec. 2).
The trees fill the Chetco Grange Community Center at 97895 Shopping Center Ave. in Harbor. Admission is free.
Volunteers from more than a dozen nonprofit organizations were busy decorating trees Thursday in preparation for today’s event.
The trees are available for viewing and bidding in a silent auction. Holiday items will also be for sale and information provided on the charitable organizations offering the trees.
All proceeds go to the organization, allowing them to fund their yearly activities that help the community.
Attendees can vote on their favorite tree for the People’s Choice Award. The winner receives a $35 prize.
A Children Store provides a way for youngsters to buy gifts at $1 or less for their family. Lunch is available for $5. Santa will visit from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. to greet children.
This year’s participants include the Azalea Quilters Guild, Brookings-Harbor Garden Club, Brookings-Harbor Lions Club, Brookings-Harbor High School Leadership, Chetco Activity Center, Chetco Grange, Coos Curry Electric Cooperative, Community ChariTree, Brookings-Harbor Community Helpers Emergency Food Bank, Memorial Bird Sanctuary, Oasis Shelter Home, Salvation Army, Southern Oregon Dress a Girl Around the World, Southern Oregon Kite Festival, SMART and Wally’s House.
