The Downtown Brookings Second Saturday Art Walk, which has been on break since December, returns to seven venues from 3 to 6 p.m. today (April 14).
To celebrate its return, galleries and venues are organizing special activities and events.
For example, at Chetco Community Public Library, the cast Chetco Pelican Players’ production of “Athenry” will give a preview performance at 3:15 p.m. in the main gallery, where a “California Dreamin’” art show is on display.
At Manley Art Center, there is a live art and travelogue presentation at 4 p.m. by Pelican Bay Arts Association’s featured artist Dave Howell, who spent time painting while sailing around the world.
Then at Brian Scott Gallery, featured artist Les Cornish will share his techniques for using pastel media to create his landscape and seascape paintings at 4:45 p.m.
At Semi Aquatic Gallery, owner and artist Spencer Reynolds will be there for the duration of the Art Walk to show and tell all about his oil painting techniques.
Meanwhile at Ambiance By the Sea, featured artist Kevin Roeckl will discuss his art, and Georgia Cockerham will discuss and sign her book from 3 to 6 p.m.
That leaves Wright’s and Feather Your Nest, almost next door to each other. At Wright’s, the featured artist is Melissa Meyer, and Audi Stanton will demonstrate small-painting techniques. At Feather Your Nest, it’s their entire group of artists who will be featured.
Most of the venues will have free refreshments and live music performed by artists representing a number of different musical styles.
