The eighth annual Gold Beach Rotary Turkey Trot begins at 9 a.m. at the former Hospice Market building on Wedderburn Loop. The theme is “Run for Your Life.” There are prizes for the best disaster-preparedness costume, fastest male and female runners, and youngest and oldest participants. The entry fee is a donation of nonperishable food.

Nature’s Coastal Holiday festival of lights is open from 5 to 9 p.m. in Azalea Park. Entrances are off Old County and North Bank Chetco River roads. The event is open nightly, except during severe weather, through Dec. 31.

Saturday, Dec. 9

Coastal Christmas Elves host a light parade and Santa event. The parade lineup begins at 4:30 p.m. on Lundeen Lane next to KidTown in Azalea Park. The parade, which include Santa riding on a fire truck, starts at 5:15 p.m. and proceeds down Azalea Park Road, Pacific Avenue, Oak Street and Chetco Avenue to Oasis Park.
