BHHS Briefs

Bruin Golf

The Brookings-Harbor High School golf team, though only returning two golfers from last year's team, made it a goal before the season ended to shoot a round under 400 as a team. They completed that task in their final round of the season as they shot a 386 on Tuesday at the 4A district meet at Bandon Crossings Golf Course.

Though no Bruins qualified for the state tournament, the sub-400 score shows vast improvement over the season.

"I am very proud of everyone as a team and am looking forward to this summer and the future of the program," said Bruin head coach Chris McConnell via email. "I am excited about where we are headed as a team."

Bruin Tyler Sandusky shot a personal best 97 and Alex McKee shot a personal best 96 and a 97 for his two rounds.

Physicals available soon at BHHS

Curry Medical Clinic is conducting physicals from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 4, for high school students and from 4pm to 7pm on Thursday, June 5, for middle school students. The cost of the physicals are $10 and all proceeds are donated directly back to the BHHS athletic department. Proceeds from physicals of middle school students will go directly to Azalea athletics.

In order to participate in athletics all students must have a current physical on-file in the athletic office. Physicals are good for one calendar year.

Gold Beach advances to 3A State Championship

The Gold Beach High School boys golf team is heading to the OSAA 3A Golf Championships for the first time in seven years after finishing in second place at the district tournament at Bandon Crossings Golf Course earlier this week.

The Panthers team score of 732 was good enough for second place, beating third-place Bandon by seven strokes and earned them the right to compete for a state title beginning Monday at the Trysting Tree Golf Course in Corvallis.

The top players for Gold Beach were Brennen Eilek, who finished in fourth place, and Shane Roberts, who placed sixth.
