The Brookings-Harbor High School softball team got back to their winning ways at Sutherlin High School Friday afternoon with a doubleheader sweep over the winless Bulldogs.

Game 1: BHHS 14, Sutherlin 3

The Lady Bruins made the most of their opportunites, capitalizing on Bulldog mistakes in a convincing 14-3, five inning victory.

BHHS capitalized on six Sutherlin errors and drew nine walks off of Bulldog pitcher Kaylee Knee. Eight of BHHS' 14 runs were unearned.

The Lady Bruins, known for their team speed, also stole an eye-popping 14 bases, led by shortstop Hannah Baron's three thefts.

Lady Bruin senior Jessica Yock pitched three inning to earn the win as BHHS scored three in the first, four in the second, and seven in the fourth in the romp.

Game 2: BHHS 14, Sutherlin 4

Lady Bruin second baseman Mariahn Seavello went 3-4 with two RBIs and pitcher Courtney Kay threw a complete game as BHHS, behind an explosive 8-run fourth inning, beat Sutherlin, 14-4 in six innings.

The Lady Bruins pounded out 13 hits and were assisted by eight Bulldog errors.

Kay, after giving up four runs in the first inning, bore down to shut Sutherlin out the rest of the way, allowing six hits while striking out three.

BHHS is now 14-3 overall with an 8-2 league record.

They head to Marshfield to take on the Pirates next Tuesday.
