The Bruins boys varsity team's winning streak ended Thursday with a 65-74 loss at home to the North Bend Bulldogs.

The Bruins are now 3-2 in the Far West League. North Bend improves to 4-1.

A less than stellar night for Bruin Justin Murray, combined with multiple turnovers, allowed the Bulldogs to control most of the game, leading by 8 to 10 points at the end of the third and fourth quarters.

The game was physical, with both teams trading fouls generously, but the Bulldogs outscored the Bruins in free throws. The Bulldogs's Ty Roane made 9 of 10 free throws in the first three quarters, and 4 or 8 in the fourth quarter.

The Bulldogs' dominating offense was calm and strategic, while the Bruins' efforts at times seemed rushed and scattered. However, in the fourth quarter the Bruins capitalized on Bulldog turnovers, closing the gap to five points. It didn't last long as the Bulldogs returned to form and ended the game with a 9-point lead.

Top Bruin scorers were Justin Murray with 20, followed by Ronnie Manley with 15, Calvin Watwood with 11, and Dexter Vaughn with 8.

The Bruins made 9 of 17 free throws compared to the Bulldogs' 8 of 13.

Top Bruin scorers were Iva Hart and Courtney Kay with 13 each, followed by Drew Farmer with 12 and Courtney Bay and Jordyn Keys with 8.
