Kicking off youth soccer

The Brookings-Harbor High School soccer camp commenced on Monday and for 18 local youth, it has been a load of fun with lots of learning.

"Camp has been good," Mickey Fulton said. "The games have been fun and we've got better at ball strategies and control."

For Sierra Fitzhugh the camp has provided a chance to learn how to dribble better and to pass the ball.

"My favorite part was playing games and scrimmaging," she said.

The camp, hosted by the high school girls and boys teams, took place in the Gibney Center and on the soccer fields outside.

"It's been pretty good," boys Head Coach Gabriel Anaya said. "We've got 18 kids and it's been working out pretty good for everybody."

According to camp counselor Fernando Lira, it's important for the youth to interact and play soccer.

"It's been a great camp," he said. "The kids have gotten involved and had fun."
