It was an evening of personal records as the Brookings-Harbor High School track and field team won the BHHS Twilight Invitational on Tuesday night.
The Bruins invited six teams but according to assistant coach Joe Sthen, they all dropped out of the meet and only the Red Devils of Coquille arrived ready to compete.
The girls team claimed a dominating victory with a score of 196 to Coquille's 63 and some of the Lady Bruins set a personal records.
One of those notable records was set by senior Brandi Rodgers who threw 106-00 in the discus to set a PR.
"All season I've been shooting for 100 feet," Rodgers said. "I thought I'd get it in javelin first, but apparently I haven't. It feels pretty good to finally hit it."
The boys team claimed a victory as well, just not with as large a margin as the girls squad. The boys took 160 points, leaving just 132 for their opponents.
A notable PR for the boys team involved the four members of the 4x100-meter relay team who shaved close to a tenth of a second off their best with a 44.74-second run.
"I think we did pretty well," Head Coach Jim Keys said. "We had some PRs in some events which was impressive. Especially without much competition."
A number of Bruins used this meet as a warm-up prior to the Far West League District Championships coming up Friday and Saturday, May 17 and 18.
