The Brookings-Harbor High School football team got some much needed redemption on Friday night as they beat the Warriors of Hoopa Valley 35-27.
The Bruins came into the game having lost 6-41 to Cascade Christian and were looking for a victory to take into the beginning of Far West League play on Friday.
The Bruins began the game kicking off to the Warriors, and then stopping their drive and forcing a turnover on downs.
On the resulting offensive drive the Bruins ate up eight minutes of the first-quarter clock and scored a touchdown that gave the Bruins a lead they wouldn't relinquish until close to the end of the fourth quarter when the Warriors knotted up the game at 27.
The Bruins dominated the game in the first half, but allowed the Warriors back into the game by getting outscored 20-0 in the second half.
In overtime, the Bruins started with the ball first and defying a penalty, Jr. Helme connected with Justin Murray for Murray's fourth touchdown of the game. Helme converted the two-point play to put the Bruins up 35-27.
The Bruin defense was able to prevent the Warriors from scoring, and the Bruins won the game in overtime.
